CITB health & safety awareness course

The team at Health and Safety North East (HSNE) are committed to providing quality training courses for both those in the health and safety profession, and for those requiring extra knowledge for a safe workplace.

The CITB Site Safety Plus 1 day Health and Safety Awareness course is for those who have joined the workforce in the construction and civil engineering industry, to help them understand the potential hazards and risks that they may face on site. This course also emphasizes the importance of understanding the law of the land, regulations, and safe systems of work.

There are no formal requirements for this course, but trainees will need a National Insurance Number and a CSCS Card (if held).

The Health and Safety Awareness Course aims to:-

  • Explain what is expected of employees and why they need to carry out identified tasks.
  • Ensure that attendees know how to contribute to the safety of the workplace and the need to prevent workplace accidents, and to report any unsafe actions.
  • Highlight the importance of performing safely and with due care in the workplace, and to ask advice if there is any uncertainty
  • Give an understanding of health and safety law and the need for risk assessments and method statements.
  • Get workers to acknowledge how their role fits into the control and management of the job site.

A maximum of 20 trainees is accepted on each course, to ensure that each attendee gets the most possible out of the session. All Health and Safety North East instructors are fully trained and HSE/CITB accredited, and possess the NEBOSH construction certificate as a minimum. This ensures a high quality of training throughout each course.

The CITB course takes place over 6.5 hours in a single day, in house or in one of our training centres nationally. In house training may be more beneficial as Health and Safety North East can tailor the training specifically to the workplace, as well as, significantly reducing costs to the client.

Course Assessment

An attendee's understanding of the course information will be assessed by 25 multiple choice questions at the end of session. In addition, delegates are expected to be interactive during the course.

The training is carried out in accordance with Nationally Accredited Standards and each successful delegate is issued with certificate of attainment from the CITB Construction Skills.
