Health & Safety North East offer a number of NEBOSH Certificates and Training Programmes, to give managers and employees the knowledge and expertise to make their business a safe place to work.
The NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health is an examined core qualification, for people who have health and safety responsibilities, as part of their job description. The certificate gives a broad understanding of health and safety issues that may arise in the workplace, so they can manage these risks effectively.
The NEBOSH National General Certificate is a great first step, for those looking to start a in a career in health and safety, as it provides a valuable overview, making it a sound basis for further professional study.
No previous health and safety knowledge is required but candidates should note the assessment includes a requirement to write a short report.
Holders of the NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety are entitled to Associate Membership (AIOSH) of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). The qualification also meets the academic requirements for Technician membership (TechIOSH) of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and Associate membership (AIIRSM) of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM).
The NEBOSH National General Certificate covers the main legal requirements for health and safety in the UK, identification and control of workplace hazards, and the practical application of this knowledge.

Element 8: Physical & Psychological Health
Units NGC1 and NGC2 are taught units and each assessed by a two-hour written examination, consisting of ten ‘short-answer’ questions and an essay question. Unit NGC3 is assessed by a two-hour practical examination carried out in the candidate's own workplace.

The course is regularly held in Carlisle, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Glasgow, Leeds, Daventry and Warrington.
